Young U's Lose Out

Oxford United’s under 18s were beaten 2-0 at Swindon Town this afternoon in the EFL Youth Alliance.

United used the game to look at a number of their under 16 players but went behind after just nine minutes when Conor Britchford-Stanley put the home side ahead with a neat finish.

The same player then doubled the advantage five minutes into the second half and despite United creating a number of chances they were unable to find a way back into the game which saw a red card for both sides - sub Jack Lee sent off for United.

“Nobody enjoys losing a derby game” Coach Pablo Haysham told us. “It had an edge to it, as these games always do but we competed throughout, the younger players did well and we never gave up. We talked at half time about starting well and playing on the front foot but a second goal so quickly into the second half killed that off.

“We gave it a real go but it’s all about learning from each game so we will look back at this and keep striving to improve.”
