Oxford United Women lost 5-1 to Watford FC Women in a wet pre-season friendly this evening.
Watford opened the scoring in the 6th minute before United levelled via a Trialist in the 30th. Watford then scored just before half time, before scoring three in the second half to wrap up the win.
In the driving rain, United were cut open early by two Watford trialists, but found a leveller on the half hour mark through a Trialist of their own - an excellent curling effort from the edge of the box after good work from Shelly Provan.
Watford then scored five minutes before half time, the same Trialist nodding home from a corner.
It was a dreary evening weather-wise, made worse for United by a strong second half performance from the visitors, adding three more, through trialists and Bee Baptiste, to end the game 5-1.
United changed the entire starting eleven (which started with 6 trialists) throughout the game, and so the fixture was a good chance for experimentation against the side that won the FAWNL Southern Premier Division last season.
The result is not important and the U's will look to improve on the performance against Charlton Athletic on Sunday.
