Oxford United Women will look to start 2023 with a win as they travel to Bridgwater United this Sunday, the 8th of January. Kick off is at 2PM at Fairfax Park.
The U's are currently unbeaten in the Southern Premier Division and will look to continue that record against a side that they have already beaten twice this campaign.
On the opening day of the season, United won 2-0 at Court Place Farm against Bridgwater, and then again by the same scoreline in the League Cup, also at home.
Now though, they face the challenge of playing Bridgwater away, who sit seventh in the League table. Manager Liam Gilbert told us
"We know what they'll be about and they have some very experienced players that play very well at their home. It's the start of the New Year and no one has really played for a few weeks and it will come down to who comes back sharpest and who wants it more on the day."
"The girls have been fantastic over the break. They've had a running plan at home and the data they sent across was spot on. We have such a committed and dedicated group so we can't really ask for much more from them."
Midfielder Leah Burridge, who used to play for Bridgwater, is eager to get back on the pitch
"I'm always excited to play against them and it's always difficult, especially away. We like playing against them because it's a challenge and it makes us test ourselves and be better on the pitch. We want to start the year on a high and continue that going into the second part of the season."
