Oxford United’s under 18s came from behind to beat Portsmouth 2-1 at the Bangkok Glass Training Centre on Saturday morning.
Trailing to a first half penalty, United stormed back in a rousing second half and goals from Gatlin O’Donkor and Enrique Tiamuna earned them all three points in the Youth Alliance League.
Coach Chris Hackett told us
“We played OK in the first half and were disappointed to be a goal down at half time from the penalty. It was very open and a good game to watch but we hadn’t taken our chances.
“We got much more on the front foot after the break and made it 1-1 when Gatlin turned well and scored a good goal, and then we kept the pressure on and got our reward when Enrique stepped up and scored from the spot to make it 2-1 after Kasway Burton was bundled over
“We might have been even more clinical; we created a lot of chances even at 2-1 and their keeper made a couple of decent saves but in the end I thought we deserved the win.”
