Oxford United under 18s let a two goal advantage slip this afternoon when they were beaten 4-2 at Bristol Rovers in the Youth Alliance.
United were 2-0 up through goals from midfielder Tobias Brenan and winger Aidan Elliott-Wheeler but struggled after the break as the home side dominated.
Coach Chris Hackett told us
“We were missing a couple of players but still started very strongly and were on the front foot. We got the goals through Tobias and Aidan but then we started to undo all the good work and forgot the basics.
"Among those basics is the fact that away from home, two goals up, you defend properly and don’t let the other side back in it because you know they are going to respond and come at you.
“You have to give credit to Bristol who changed a few things and played well. At 3-2 down we still had chances to get something out of the game but we need to be stronger and learn our lessons from this result.”
