Oxford United’s Under-19s started their schedule of pre-season games in Italy with a dominant 5-1 win against International Academy Vichenza on Wednesday.
A first-half strike from Tobias Brenan was followed by goals from Aidan Elliott-Wheeler, Enrique Tiamuna, Harrison Bradney and Josh Iheanacho, who all netted in the second half.
Coach Chris Hackett was thrilled with the victory and said: “It’s a great result for the team at the start of our tour, especially scoring so many goals. The performance is something we can build on in our next few games here.”
The five goals recorded by the young Yellows on Wednesday takes their total to 11 goals across two pre-season matches so far, after showing their attacking flair against Aston Villa’s youth team prior to the Italian tour.
Three more games await the scholars, who are currently based near Parma, before they return from their tour on August 12th.
