Oxford United Women have been drawn to play local rivals Swindon Town in the FA Women’s National League Cup.
It’s a chance for the Women to play a local derby and as Manager Liam Gilbert told us the game has been slightly rescheduled to allow fans to attend two games that day
“First of all it’s great for our players to have a game like this to play in and we hope it attracts a big crowd, as Oxford v Swindon games tend to do.
“But it is on the same day that the club is hosting a Memorial Match for Micky Lewis and we want to play our part in that as well: Micky was a tremendous supporter of our Women’s football programme and worked alongside a number of people including our captain Lauren Haynes who saw Micky as a real mentor for her coaching.
“We thank Swindon for their understanding and have moved the kick off forward to midday on Sunday 10th October which will hopefully still draw a big crowd but also allow fans time to go on from our match and be part of Micky’s game at the Kassam Stadium at 3pm.”
