Oxford United’s under 18s will look to build on another positive week when they travel to Newport County on Saturday in the EFL Youth Alliance.
This week saw several of the youngsters given a chance at first-team level, with Tyler Goodrham and Josh Johnson making first starts and Clint Nosakhare and Josh Anifowose making their debuts as substitutes, with Ben Watt and Adam Smith both on the bench.
All are expected to return to the under-19 squad for the trip to South Wales, with coach Chris Hackett saying:
“It was great experience and with Leon Chambers-Parillon and Michael Elechi involved, there were six outfield players at one stage on Tuesday who have come through the Academy.
“That’s great to see but we just need to refocus and make sure everyone is switched on for Saturday because we have another important game at Newport, where we know we are going to have a tough 90 minutes.”
United’s under 17s are also in action at home to Woking.
