Oxford United’s Under 19s look to continue their impressive pre-season with another strong performance when they welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to the Oxford Sports Park for a pre-season friendly.
The young U’s won a thrilling game against Woking 5-4 on Tuesday after a battling 0-0 draw at Aston VIlla the week before.
To put those performances into perspective, United’s side contained several under 16s and even a couple of 14-year-olds due to the older scholars being involved in the senior squad.
“It’s been a good week again" Coach Chris Hackett told us. “The younger lads stepped up, the older ones showed good leadership qualities and it helps keep that togetherness which we are going to need through the season. On Saturday we will play two games- under 19s and under 17s and we know it’s going to be a really good test against Brighton.”
The games are behind closed doors, kicking off at midday. Report and reaction to follow
