Oxford United goalkeeper Simon Eastwood's superb return to action has seen him nominated for the Sky Bet League 1 Player of the Month award
Simon returned to action after injuring a finger in just the second game of the season, and wasn't beaten from open play in the whole of October, to impress the judges and make the following shortlist:
Simon Eastwood (Oxford United) – goalkeeper
His return from a broken finger sustained in August has made all the difference to the Oxford defence. Made superb saves against Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury and was only beaten from the penalty spot in four games.
Adebayo Akinfenwa (Wycombe Wanderers) – striker
Involved in everything as Wycombe climbed the table. Three goals, including a thunderous volley and a classic header for his 200th career goal, were matched by three assists as he created space for others in his own unique style.
Tom Eaves (Gillingham) – striker
Three of the four goals from a striker known as much for his aerial power were things of beauty. Yet even a poised finish at Doncaster and a rasping shot against Bradford couldn’t compare with his magical ball juggling and volley at Portsmouth.
Freddie Ladapo (Plymouth Argyle) - striker
Veins of form do not come much richer. Six goals and two assists in six games for the 25-year-old who scored every type of goal, including a lovely individual effort against Burton, to help lift Argyle out of the relegation zone.
The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL Trader Mikey Mumford. All winners will be announced at 6am on Friday 9th November.
