Midfielder Xemi Fernandez is to leave Oxford United by mutual consent.
Xemi joined the U’s last summer from Barcelona and made a total of eight starts and six sub appearances for the U’s, scoring twice.
Regular first team football has been elusive though and Xemi leaves with the club’s best wishes as he starts a new chapter elsewhere.
Xemi told us:
“It hasn’t worked out here and I’m sad to be leaving because it is a fantastic club. But at the same time I want to be playing football and that means a new adventure for me elsewhere, which is exciting.
“There are some great people at Oxford. I made a decision to live in the centre of Oxford to try and feel part of the culture here. That has been a wonderful experience and I want to thank everyone who has made my stay so enjoyable.”
