U's left frustrated by Millwall comeback
There was no hiding the disappointment in the United dressing room after Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat against Millwall. Having led through a Liam Sercombe goal the U’s were undone by a spirited comeback from the Lions and forward Chris Maguire summed up the mood when he spoke to Yellow Player HD after the game.
“We were gutted in the dressing room because it was a defeat and it spoils our good run at home where we had only been beaten once” he said. “It’s a blow to come in and not have anything from the game. I didn’t think we were on top today like we have been in games but we could maybe have deserved something from it.
“Their Manager has said that they play long balls and that’s where they got their first goal when it dropped. It was a great strike that anyone would be happy with. We came out in the second half and tried to get the next goal but it was an error that cost us, and that’s something we need to cut out really quickly.
“Millwall managed the game when they got ahead and it was hard for us to get a breakthrough. We had a few efforts towards the end but they threw their bodies on the line and made it tough, as you would expect. But we will look back on it as individual errors. We have said that a few times now and the sooner they get cut out of our game then the better.”
