U's Military Day - general information
The Oxford United Military Day will take place on Saturday 19th November as the U's welcome Coventry City.
Military Day helps us raise funds for great causes such as Combat Stress, but also promotes the Armed Forces Covenant and Tri-Service Recruitment. This will be the third season that Oxford United have recognised the service that military personnel do for their country and their local community.
There will be a wide array of activities, all to support the charities of the military.
In the build up, we will highlight a different aspect of the Military Day each day. Today we give an overview of the day itself, and what to expect at the ground before kick off.
Prior to the match, there will be flag bearers and demonstrations from the Sea and Air Cadets, along with ACF participation. There will be Army Vocalist Captain Chilton, and members of the 7 Rifles and RST. POC Charlotte Harvey will be talking about Combat Stress and there will be buckets located around to donate to the cause. There will be vehicles, arts and crafts and a chance to try your hand at a huge range of activities.
The money raised will be split between the RN Benevolent Trust, the Army Benevolent Fund, the RAF Benevolent Fund, Combat Stress and the Oxford United Community Trust.
There is an opportunity to grab a photo with the RE Dive team, and the Cadet forces will have an interactive trailer to chat with families and fans. There will also be a dog handler demonstration on the pitch at half time.
The Regimental football team will escort two Chelsea pensioners onto the pitch to deliver the match ball before kick-off at 3pm. To accompany them there will be a guard of honour, along with the national anthem.
The stands and activities are set to start at 12 noon, with more information on timings available later in the week.
Tickets for the game are available from www.oufctickets.co.uk and 01865 337533
