John Shuker: Guest of Honour

United record appearance holder guest of honour for Newport

Johnny Shuker, United's record league appearance holder, will be the guest of honour when Newport County come to town on Saturday 4th October.

Shuker joined Oxford as an amateur in 1960 and made his first team debut in the side's first season in the Football League, against Lincoln City in August 1962. He went on to complete an incredible 534 matches for the U's, of which 478 were league games, scoring 47 goals for the club.

Shuker's final appearance was in April 1977 against Peterborough United, 15 years after his debut. In that time Shukes played in numerous positions and he also captained the side following Ron Atkinson's departure.

Still living locally, Shuker will be in the Manor Bar before kick-off. He will also be featured in the matchday magazine, so if you have any questions you would like to ask him please email mbrodetsky@oufc.co.uk before Monday and we will ask him a selection of them.
