Defender goes to Margate while other loanees extend
United scholar Freddie Grant has joined Margate, currently playing in the Isthmian League Premier Division, on a work experience loan. Meanwhile, Josh Shama, Aidan Hawtin and Matt Bevans have all had their loan deals extended by two months.Grant, who has excelled with United's under-18 side, received fulsome praise from head coach Michael Appleton at last night's fans' forum. Appleton said, "Freddie's done really well. He has a great personality and attitude. We feel he needs to play senior football right now and this is a perfect opportunity."
Shama and Hawtin have both been at Banbury United for the last month, where Shama has hit a rich vein of scoring form, while Bevans has been at Farnborough. Appleton said, "Josh, Aidan and Matt have all benefitted from their loans, getting regular football and playing very well. We're happy to extend their loans so they continue to get playing time while developing as footballers."
