Manager to be Announced

Oxford United's search for a new Manager close to conclusion

Oxford United Chairman Ian Lenagan tonight confirmed that the club has verbally agreed a deal with a new manager.

The new man will be named very soon after formalities are completed on the contract.

Mickey Lewis remains in charge for tonight’s home game against Hartlepool and the Chairman thanked him for his efforts as caretaker manager. Mickey and Andy Melville will revert to their former roles once the new man is in place.

Ian said:

"There were 71 applicants and from there we got down to 12 and then a final three who we have interviewed twice and taken up references for. We went through the correct process. We have offered the successful candidate the role of Manager and have had verbal acceptance back. We expect the final contract to be signed tomorrow and the new manager to be in place for Monday's game at Southend."
