Campbell on the mark as United beat Bournemouth

Development side win 2-0 in friendly at Bournemouth

Oxford United’s Development side put in  another excellent performance this afternoon as they won 2-0 in a friendly at AFC Bournemouth.

Striker John Campbell underlined his potential with a second goal in two games for the team while first year pro Aidan Hawtin, now back full time with the U’s after a successful loan spell at Banbury United, netted the second. There was further good news with striker James Roberts completing his first 45 minutes since injury.

Coach Micky Lewis told us:

“It was a really good game. We kept the ball and there were some great moves from both sides. John Campbell getting a goal was obviously a boost and Robbo played the second 45 minutes. We will just keep an eye on that because we don’t want to rush him back too soon.

“Max Crocombe made a couple of good saves, we had two penalty shouts turned down and created decent chances and Aidan took his goal well but the most pleasing thing once again was the attitude.  That has been excellent in the last few games and it was pleasing to back that up with a win today.”
