Development Squad In Action

Youngsters take on Southend

United's new development squad will play their third game of the season when they take on Southend United in a behind closed doors friendly today.

The development side follow up games against Birmingham City and AFC Bournemouth with a friendly against the Shrimpers and several of the U's' under 21 side will be hoping to push their claims for a chance in the first team.

Max Crocombe  Matt Bevans, Kenzer Lee, David Lynn, Callum O'Dowda, Josh Shama, Josh Ruffels and Ty Marsh are all likely to feature while United may give one or two senior players the chance to get 90 minutes under their belts ahead of Saturday's trip to Burton Albion.

Youth team midfielder Josh Ashby, winger Aidan Hawtin and striker James Roberts could also feature but defender Sam Long misses out again. The centre-half is making good progress after an ankle injury but is still a few weeks away from playing again.

The game is not open to the public but we will have a report right here at the final whistle and we hope to bring you highlights in Yellow Player.
