Gary Rowett Credits Team For Luton Town Fightback

Gary Rowett

Another home game for Gary Rowett as Oxford United Head Coach and another victory, this time a 3-2 win over Luton Town in a frantic 90 minutes.

Falling behind twice, United won the game with three goals from defenders Michal Helik, Ciaron Brown and Greg Leigh with the winner in the second half.

It was the first time in the league that the U's fell behind under Gary Rowett, and he was extremely proud with the character his team showed.

He said: "Every game seems to throw up more challenges and I'm more impressed with how we handle those.

"Luton make it hard to be on the front foot and feel in control. You always feel like there is chaos with Luton and to go a goal down was a different challenge.

"I said to the group that we have had it easy scoring first in every game and we have to show a different side. It wasn't perfect or fluid, but it was gritty and we found a way which is just as effective.

"You are always keen to see how they respond. I'm new here and learning all the time and I'm so impressed with how they have dealt with the changes.

"We are showing flexibility to win games and three defenders come up with the goals which is unusual. It was three excellent finishes, maybe the next game the key is them to be the front three."
