Oxford United have had a further fitness boost with the return of Anthony Forde to full training this morning.
Forde broke four ribs during a home game against Shrewsbury Town at the start of December but has made a remarkable recovery and was back on the training pitches today with a chance of being back in the squad for the game at Peterborough on Saturday.
With George Thorne and Liam Kelly making cameo appearances during Saturday’s game against Blackpool and Cameron Brannagan and James Henry both starting that match the U’s are starting to get players back at just the right time
“It’s good news on Fordy” Karl Robinson told us earlier. “It was a nasty injury and he was in a bad way but he is a fantastic professional and has followed the programme he was given and was back out there and involved today. With Matty Taylor also on the bench it only leaves Ben Woodburn, who is maybe a couple of weeks off a return, and Malachi Napa, who is due back some time in March and is well on schedule as well.
“That’s a great thing to have; players coming back into the squad just as the schedule gets busy and we start to build towards what we hope will be an exciting end to the season.”
