Winger pleased to commit to the U's
Alfie Potter has been telling Yellow Player that he simply can’t wait to report back and start playing for the U’s again. Fans’ Favourite Alfie signed a new three year deal yesterday and told us exactly why he was ready to commit his long term future to the club:
“When I first signed here on loan four years ago the fans were unbelievable and I knew this was where I wanted to play football. That’s why I signed permanently and that’s why I’ve signed a new contract again. I love playing here; I like the club, love the fans and everything about it feels right.
“I have been here four years and I am delighted to have got the new contract signed and am really looking forward to the new season. Everyone wants to play as high as they can and the idea is to be doing that with Oxford United. Everyone knows that the club has massive potential and it’s just up to us, the players and the staff, to fulfil the potential now.”
There have been big changes to the squad this summer, a freshening up that Alfie thinks signals a new opportunity for the U’s:
“It is like a new start now and I am looking forward to it. We have signed some good players already and I’m sure there might be more. I can’t wait to get in for pre-season and meet all the new boys. I have been doing a little bit to keep in shape and it will be good to see what is in store for us over pre-season training!
“We had a programme for the summer and have stuck to that. Rest is important but everybody will be in top shape before the season starts.”
United’s players report back tomorrow and Alfie feels rested and raring to go:
“We are in tomorrow (Friday) for tests and then we start properly on Monday. It has not been the longest break this summer because the season starts earlier but towards the end of a season you look forward to the break and it’s funny how a week or ten days in and you can’t wait to get back in.”
